GMC Envoy Gas Mileage
Gas mileage is a measure of how fuel efficient a vehicle is. It refers to the
ratio of the number of miles your vehicle has traveled to the number of gallons
of gasoline burned when running such distance. There are usually two gas mileage
figures issued, one for city and one for highway. The higher the gas mileage rating
means the more fuel efficient your car is.
The main reason behind the use of the Vortec 4200 Inline 6-cylinder engine for
the GMC Envoy is to provide better fuel economy. Inline type engines are known
to use and eat up less gasoline compared to larger V-type engines. Consumer reports
on the GMC Envoy however indicate that the gas mileage is not so good compared
to other vehicles using inline type of engines.
The GMC Envoy has an average city/highway/combined gas mileage of about 15/20/17
for all of its model when using the Vortec 4200 Inline 6-cylinder engine. When
the Vortec 5300 V8 engine is used, it registers an average of 14/19/16, a mile
shorter with the same amount of gasoline used. But even if the Vortec 4200 engine
rates better, it still cannot match the fuel economy provided by simpler inline
types of engines mostly used for subcompact sedans.
